I originally bought this car from a lovely retired couple who I knew as we both contribute to VW Driver magazine, the husband writing about his Scirocco R and the wife about her Mk7 Golf GTD which replaced this car back in 2014. The condition was truly exceptional then and apart from needing a cambelt change was ready to go. We sold it to an old customer of ours (also retired) taking his Mk4 Golf GT TDI in part exchange. We then had it back off him 2 years later in 2016 when he swapped it for a Seat Exeo estate. Then it went to another old customer (not retired) for his dad (just retired!) as a birthday present but retirement meant no need for 2 cars and we were glad to be offered it back and beat the internet car buying services by quite a signifiant amount before they'd even battered down their quoted, supposedly 'fair' price on seeing the car as they always do.
Condition is still exceptional with no damage to report anywhere and all wheel arches free of the corrosion that can set in all too easily. There is some corrosion on the wheel spokes but they still look good, are not kerbed and are shod with 4 matched Michelin tyres.
The interior is pretty much perfect too with barely any wear even to the driver's bolsters, the original VW mats are still present and in good order.
Importantly it still drives perfectly and I know this because 2 days after it came in, I had to go to York on business and took this car, notching up over 300 miles in total comfort with no faults of any sort revealed and an average of over 50 mpg recorded, not bad considering I was cruising at high speed most of the time.
