03/53 Mk4 Golf GT TDI PD 130 5 door
£2990

2003 Mk4 Golf with ASZ coded 130 bhp 4 cylinder turbocharged PD diesel engine and six speed manual gearbox. Reflex silver bodywork with black/grey cloth sports interior. Supplied by VW UK to themselves then with 3000 miles recorded, it was sold by South Hereford VW to 2nd owner, a gentleman from Yorkshire. As a reader of Volkswagen Driver magazine he'd seen our 'Good Cars Wanted' advert and offered it to us directly rather than trade it in for the brand new Polo that replaced it.

Full VW service history in original service book and when that filled up, it continues in a VW duplicate service book. All supporting receipts from new carefully organised in folder.
HPI clear as with all our cars.
Complete owners manual wallet. Two remote keys. VW floor mats in good condition. VW tailored mud flaps.
Extra cost options of climate control, cruise control, multifunction steering wheel, VW supplied Westfalia detachable tow bar (used for bike rack). Standard spec of electric windows, electric mirrors, 15" 'Avus 2' alloy wheels, trip computer.

Even with the government's now contradictory dislike of older diesels like this one, they still have a following because they sit in that sweet spot where diesels were nice to drive but not overly complicated by emissions control equipment like EGR coolers and particulate filters.
This particular engine can easily do 200,000 miles with often patchy maintenance so this beautifuly maintained car could in theory go on for ever.
I run a Bora TDI 130 myself and find it the perfect every day car, cheap enough not to be too precious, nice to drive without the strangulated feel of modern diesels, good on fuel and reliable. It's unlikely the government will penalise budget concious owners who drive cars like these because they followed government advice to do so, yes they may be restricted from city centres in due course but that wont affect the majority of drivers.
If the worst comes to the worst it could always be put in as part of a scrappage scheme but that would be such a pity as this car has many years reliable usage ahead of it.
Condition is exceptional with no damage to report and largely original paintwork. The interior is similarly pristine with just some light wear to the driver's bolster (see images). The wheels have been refurbished and are shod with Dunlop tyres.
Having driven the car back from Leeds I can confirm it's spot on and returned 55 mpg with little effort. The images were taken with zero prep not even a wash so you can tell it's been loved unlike the typical TDI which is more usually treated like a peasant treats a donkey.
