of £36580 - specification is key with these and this car has everything
I would want (no coincidence as I was going to order one of these and discussed
spec at the time with the owner of this one but I swapped to Clubsport S
when it was announced) - DSG gearbox, 5 door bodyshell, pearl effect paint
(the best colour for a Mk7 in my opinion), DCC dynamic chassis control (this
was standard on Clubsport S so why would you not want it?), Recaro bucket
seats with seat heating (standard on Clubsport S and key to its identity,
not uncomfortable in anyway, my wife doesn't even moan about them as she
does with most bucket seats), black roof (should have been standard on Clubsport
S but cars came without it), 95% tint to rear windows (has a greater effect
on the aesthetics than the modest price tag would suggest on this car),
Apple Car Play/App Connect. I even prefer the smaller 18" wheels which
as well as suiting the colour scheme, are forged and as a result significantly
lighter than the 19" optional Brescia wheels.
Standard spec of Edition 40 includes; special aerodynamic package, Discover navigation, rear parking sensors, Bluetooth audio and phone, adaptive cruise with front assist, multi-function steering wheel, spacesaver spare wheel, bi-xenon headlamps with single 'U' daytime running lights.
This car is effectively as new inside and out, it has never been damaged. The Bridgestone Potenza S001 tyre have between 7mm and 7.5mm of tread remaning.
Out of curiosity I took this car out for a thorough test drive to see how similar it is to my own Clubsport S and concluded that this DSG version is a close match, at least on the public road where it's hard to get heat into the S's special semii-slick Michelin tyres to take advantage of its cornering skills. It certainly doesn't feel short of power and there is no sensation of the power dropping off when the 10 seconds of overboost has supposedly expired so I am thinking this is a bit of a myth at least on the road where opportunities to use this amount of full throttle in 3rd gear or above are minimal anyway. A truly exceptional GTI.
