2002 Audi A2 with 1600cc 4 cylinder 'BAD' coded petrol engine and 5 speed manual gearbox. Supplied new by Charles Audi in Crewe. Light silver bodywork with black cloth interior. 4 owners from new with us recorded as the 4th keeper since December 2021. We took it in part exchange against an Up! GTI in June 2021, it belonged to the buyer's father in law who had stopped driving, he acquired it in April 2016. We spent the latter half of 2021 restoring the car, dealing with mechanical and cosmetic issues which would normally have been uneconomic to repair and led to the vehicle being scrapped as so many have been. | ||
71500 miles confirmed as correct by MOT
history. We purchased this vehicle with no service history but were able
to trace a comprehensive history with Audi up to approx 38000 miles in
2011 (see screenshots in images). We then set about bringing the car up
to date by doing the following mechanical work: New cambelt, water pump
and auxiliary belt, new Pagid brake discs and pads all round, new spark
plugs/air filter/oil/oil filter/pollen filter, new oil level sensor to
stop an oil leak, sump removal to check oil pick up wasn't blocked (it
was perfect). We also repaired the inlet manifold flap actuator arm, replaced
the thermostat housing and coolant temperature sensor, the 'death pipe'
plastic coolant pipe at rear of engine', coolant tank, coolant tank cap,
numerous water hoses and clips and of course new coolant. New front wiper
blade. New Banner battery. |

This
vehicle was written off by an insurer in 2019 due its low value making
the very light cosmetic damage uneconomic to repair. We believe the owner
retained the car and continued to use it as normal as there was no change
of keeper until 2 years later when we acquired it. It was given a 'Category
N' marker which signifies the lightest possible damage (MORE
INFO ON THIS HERE).

The last 50 or so images show the car in the condition in which it was purchased with light paint damage to the nearside wing and door and rear bumper, please take a look to reassure yourself any damage was very minor. All paint was believed to be original at that point so we don't believe any repairs were made after the vehicle was written off. It's not unusual for A2s to be written off with very minor damage as insurers believe their aluminium structure and panels makes them very expensive to repair. | ||

Standard spec includes climate control, leather steering wheel, front electric windows, remote central locking, Concert single CD/radio, split, folding and removable rear seats, front fog lights. We have fitted top quality flush fitting Cobra rear parking sensors. | ||
Cosmetic work has included repainting of the rear bumper and nearside rear
wheel arch, nearside front wing and door, we believe this very minor cosmetic
damage was what caused it to be written off in 2019. We have had all 4 wheels refurbished to the highest standard by Prestige wheel centre, replaced all 4 centre caps (very expensive), wet cleaned the interior, polished the discoloured headlights. Our mission was to make the car look as good as the car in the original launch material for the Audi A2 which was also a silver car in SE spec. |

It should be noted that this car needs to be bought by an enthusiast as there are still a few minor jobs to attend to and the car will undoubtedly need some TLC as time goes on. Current outstanding issues are a faulty number plate light (not the bulb), there is an intermittent fault regarding catalyst efficiency though the car passes the emissions test fine. It should be run on 97/98/99 super unleaded and the new E10 fuel is not compatible with the FSI system (in my opinion FSI cars should have always been run on super unleaded to get the most benefit from the FSI system). However this is a rare chance to get a largely uptogether A2 FSI for a price less than the cost of the work to put most of them right. | ||
