As this 3 series is one of the first of the E90 generation, it still looks fresh even today especially when compared to the E46 which it superceded. We took it in part exchange but feel it's of sufficient quality for us to put our name behind it as it drives well, has a decent service history and is in good condition cosmetically although this is partly due to our investment in time and money as we have had the front bumper repainted due to scuffs and the bonnet repainted due to bird droppings which had damaged the paint. The quality of both repairs is exceptional and were not cheap particularly with the bonnet having to go back to bare metal to get a decent finish. There are bird marks on the roof still but these are less extensive due to a roof box having been fitted in recent years. There are also so minor marks to the rear bumper but the majority of the bodywork is actually very good and free of any significant marks.
The interior has worn really well with no damage to report and we gave it proper clean as it had seen service with an active family so inevitably was a bit grubby.
Driving wise it's spot on and has received a fair bit of investment in recent years by way of a refurbished turbo (work performed by the only place I'd use for this work, Turbo Technics, who just happen to be local to the owner's preferred garage) and we have had the ABS pump refurbished by ECU Testing to deal with a faulty brake pressure sensor, something that can also affect VW Group vehicles due to the part being nearly identical. We also performed a very thorough brake fluid change when the new part was fitted using DOT 4.0 fluid and carried out the required service.
The owner swapped the original run-flat tyres for a normal set and bought a tyre repair kit to deal with any punctures.
We have just had the wheels thoroughly refurbished by Prestige Wheel centre and they now look superb and make the whole car look so much fresher.
